Erlina Suharjono has been promoted to senior veep of Asia distribution and also will assume duties as chief rep of Warner New Asia.
In her new post, Suharjono will oversee the distribution of American-made films in China and will supervise distribution and marketing in Asia through the Warner Bros. network of affiliate offices and licensees in the region, specifically China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. She will also oversee licensing of Warners theatrical rights to Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Suharjono will be based in Hong Kong and report directly to Veronika Kwan-Rubinek and Sue Kroll, presidents of distribution and marketing, respectively, for Warner Bros. Pictures Intl.
She moves up from veep, Asia, a post she had held since 2001.
“Erlina is a tremendous asset to our operations in Asia,” Kwan-Rubinek said. “She has helped steer distribution in these markets during a period of intense growth and helped the company expand its business in this important region.”
Kroll added, “Erlina has a deep understanding of the nuances of the Asian market and has helped us position our films to the maximum benefit of our business.”
Suharjono’s additional responsibilities include formulating release strategies for all Asian territories and supervising regional marketing campaigns, including media, research, publicity and promotional activities; acquisition of local Asian products; and assessing new markets and realignments of business on behalf of the company.
Suharjono first joined the company in 1993 as assistant marketing manager before being named regional distribution manager, Asia, for Warner Bros. Intl. the following year. She then served as regional marketing director, Asia, and general manager, Hong Kong.
