Two months after relaunching itself as a full-service studio, Summit Entertainment has named TV exec Alex Fragen as president of domestic television distribution.
Fragen will oversee distribution for free and pay TV, video-on-demand, pay-per-view, and hotel and airline sales along with developing the new media distribution strategy for the home entertainment division. He’ll report to chief operating officer Bob Hayward.
Fragen has been Paramount’s senior VP for domestic television distribution until recently. He managed operations that generated annual revenues of approximately $650 million with responsibility for all aspects of TV distribution for the studio’s library.
Fragen had been at Par for 14 years, and previously worked in the domestic pay TV department as senior VP, creating the business to consumer marketing division for the video-on-demand and pay-per-view group.
Summit is going into production this summer on “Get Some” and “Step Up 2.” Summit principals Robert Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger plan to distribute annually 10-12 pics, including eight that will be inhouse productions.
