Sony Pictures TV has bumped Chris Parnell up to vice president of development.
As part of the studio’s drama development team — which includes senior VP Sharon Hall and fellow exec Jason Clodfelter — Parnell helped develop five shows last season, including ABC’s “Cashmere Mafia,” CBS’ “Viva Laughlin,” Fox’s “Canterbury’s Law,” AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” and FX’s “Damages.”
Studio also has six pilots already in the works — including, most recently, A&E’s “The Beast.”
Hall, who heads up the department, announced Parnell’s promotion Tuesday.
“His eye for talent and his personal style have earned him the respect of his co-workers and this much-deserved promotion,” she said.
Parnell was most recently director of development, a post he’s held since 2005. He first joined Sony in 1999 as assistant to former development exec VP Sarah Timberman.
