Landmark promotes Mundorff to CEO

Chief exec to oversee company's 58 theaters

Chief operating officer Ted Mundorff has been upped to CEO of Landmark Theaters.

Announcement was made by Landmark owners Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner.

In his expanded role, Mundorff will oversee the circuit’s 58 theaters in 23 markets across the country.

Former CEO Bill Banowsky will continue to develop business opportunities for Landmark.

For the past year, Mundorff has helped oversee Landmark’s expansion, including the opening of flagship theater, the Landmark, on the Westside. All told, the circuit has increased its screen count by 19% in the past 12 months.

Mundorff was instrumental in the opening last month of Landmark’s newest theater in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Slated to open in December is the Landmark Greenwood Village in the Tech Center of Denver.

“Landmark has had a tremendous year both in terms of expansion and financial success. Ted being at the helm driving strategy, overseeing film, operations and three successful theater openings certainly has earned him this well-deserved promotion,” Cuban said.

Mundorff also has been at the forefront of promoting independent film. He helped negotiate a multiyear deal with Samsung Electronics that included a substantial, incremental media buy on Paramount Vantage’s “Into the Wild” and Focus Features’ “Atonement,” which opens Friday.
