KTLA taps ‘Morning’ anchor

L.A. show names Frank Buckley co-anchor

KTLA has formally tapped Frank Buckley to serve as the new co-anchor of its signature “KTLA Morning Show” broadcast.

Buckley has been sitting in the chair since the fall, when longtime “KTLA Morning Show” (formerly “KTLA Morning News”) co-anchor Carlos Amezcua first began filling in on the station’s 10 p.m. newscast, then jumped to rival KTTV.

Buckley moves to the ayem shift from the weekends, where he anchored the station’s Saturday and Sunday 10 p.m. newscasts. He’s been with KTLA since June 2005; before that, he was an L.A.-based correspondent for CNN.

Buckley’s awards include local news Emmys, reporter of the year from the Associated Press Television-Radio Assn. and the Golden Mike Award from the Radio and Television News Assn..

Michaela Pereira also co-anchors “KTLA Morning Show,” while Mark Kriski handles weather and features, and Sam Rubin continues as entertainment reporter.

Buckley’s announcement comes a week after KTLA also made Emmett Miller’s appointment to the 10 p.m. anchor chair official (Daily Variety, Dec. 4). Miller replaced the late Hal Fishman in the post.
