Jimmy Kimmel racked up both miles and Nielsens with his cross-country stunt last week.
The ABC latenight talkshow host drew his largest weekly aud to date in a frame when he pulled double duty by also co-hosting “Live With Regis & Kelly.” By traveling from Southern California to Gotham each day, he racked up a Guinness world record of 24,640 miles — “the furthest distance commuted in one working week.”
According to Nielsen, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” averaged 2.05 million viewers for the week, the largest aud since the show bowed in January 2003. “Kimmel’s” 2.05 million was still well behind repeats of “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on NBC (4.5 million) and “The Late Show With David Letterman” on CBS (3.7 million), but the ABC skein was up 18% vs. the same week a year ago (1.74 million).
Show peaked Wednesday, as guests Josh Hartnett, Tila Tequila and Ben Harper produced the largest aud for any telecast of “Kimmel” since May (2.28 million).
For the season, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” is up a bit vs. last year (1.89 million vs. 1.85 million) while other latenighters Leno, Letterman, Ferguson, O’Brien and Daly are all down by 10% or more.
