Fox Atomic has acquired “Strange Magic” and “Trophy Husbands,” a pair of comedy pitches with Mark Gordon on board to produce.
Gordon is teaming with Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg of Katalyst Films on “Magic,” a comedy about a lonesome, socially challenged teenager who is transformed into the most popular girl in high school by a mysterious stranger. Darren Stein and Tanner Crane are writing the script. Josh McLaughlin of Mark Gordon Prods. is also producing. Kutcher is attached to produce only.
Gordon will partner with Scarlet Fire Entertainment on “Trophy Husbands,” a male buddy comedy to be scripted by “King of Queens” writers Michael Soccio and Rock Reuben.
Story follows two best friends who marry super-rich women as a shortcut to the good life but quickly learn there’s a downside to being “kept men.”
Gordon, who’s an exec producer of “Grey’s Anatomy,” and Lawrence Inglee will produce with Steven Pearl and Allan Loeb of Scarlet Fire.
