Network seals deal with Ride Guide

The Ski Channel has sealed a deal with Ride Guide TV to provide programming to the upcoming video on-demand network.

The Calgary, Alberta-based Ride Guide will produce 26 episodes a year of ski- and mountain-themed programming for the Ski Channel, which is set to launch next year.

Canuck company also will provide more than 300 past episodes of “Ride Guide” that it has produced over the past 11 seasons. In addition, Ski Channel will have access to tens of thousands of hours of footage culled from Ride Guide’s clip library.

“These guys know where to go, what to shoot, what to say and how to say it,” said Ski Channel chairman-CEO Steve Bellamy. “They capture the soul of the space and produce some of my favorite programming in all of television. They are going to be a giant tentpole on the Ski Channel.”

Ride Guide focuses on subjects ranging from free ski and snowboarding to mountain biking. Programming, seen in 60 countries, was seen in the U.S. on VOD outfit Havoc TV until recently. Ride Guide founder Kevin Pennock said Ski Channel “is more in tune with what we are doing.”
