Endeavor has hired Brandt Joel away from CAA, making him a partner in the agency.
Joel’s status had been the subject of rumors for the past few weeks, but CAA denied he was going anywhere. He becomes one of several former CAA agents who’ve become Endeavor partners.
Patrick Whitesell and Adam Venit made the move years ago and helped Endeavor establish its star stable with actors like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Adam Sandler.
Joel, who began as an agent at UTA before joining CAA a decade ago, worked with such clients as James Gandolfini, Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Renee Zellweger, Gerard Butler, Bradley Cooper, Ewan McGregor, Hugh Laurie and Eva Longoria. There’s no word on which clients will join him in the move.
Joel becomes the second tenured CAA agent to resurface at a rival this week, as lit agent David Styne joined ICM on Monday. Joel’s appointment brings the number of partners at Endeavor to 22.
While CAA has steadfastly denied that it was cutting back on staff in the wake of a possible strike, Joel was just one of several vets rumored to be eyeing other opportunities.
