Binder nabs Halcyon post

Exec to head consumer products division

The Halcyon Co. has tapped Russell Binder prexy of the newly formed consumer products division.

The production and financing company headed by co-CEOs Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek acquired in May the rights to produce future films in the “Terminator” franchise, which will relaunch with “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” in 2009 via Warner Bros. Halcyon also holds first-look rights to the works of author Philip K. Dick.

Binder, a veteran of the licensing and consumer product industries, will manage and grow the company’s consumer products licensing business in support of Halcyon content such as the “Terminator” franchise as well as outside content the company will represent.

Before joining Halcyon, Binder created and managed the boutique agency Striker Entertainment, whose clients include Revolution Studios, Lionsgate, Starz Media, D3 Publishers of America, Heavy Metal magazine and Avalon Comics.

Binder previously was a partner at the marketing firm J.A. Roth & Associates.
