Audiences discover ‘Eureka’

SciFi show brings in 2.5 million viewers

Viewers found “Eureka” big time Tuesday, with the skein’s second season premiere ranking as SciFi’s top telecast of the year in demos.

Skein notched 2.5 million total viewers, 1.3 million of them in the adults 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen data. That made it the most-watched cable entertainment program of the day, and the No. 3 overall cable show in the younger demo.

No other SciFi skein has attracted more adults 18-49 this year, cabler said. Its numbers were down vs. its two-hour series premiere last year (4.1 million total viewers, 1.7 million adults 18-49). But compared to its first season average excluding the pilot, skein’s numbers were up an impressive 18%.

Overall, SciFi was the night’s No. 3 cable network in primetime among adults 18-49 and 25-54, giving the net its best overall Tuesday numbers this year.
