NBC is getting a dose of religion, pacting with scribe Adam Gibgot for an hourlong drama described as “Heroes” meets “Touched by an Angel.”
“Tapped” concerns average folks who realize they are somehow plugged into a frequency at which God is transmitting messages to them. Messages are designed to help humanity — one person at a time.
Gibgot is no stranger to NBC Entertainment prexy Ben Silverman. Scribe was once repped by Silverman when the NBC chief was an agent. Silverman and Gibgot later went on to develop several pilot scripts when Silverman was at Reveille.
Relationship between the two men led Gibgot and his reps to pitch “Tapped” to NBC first. Peacock responded by snapping up the concept before it could be pitched elsewhere.
Gibgot is working on several features, including a comedy pitch about a stay-at-home dad set up at New Line.
