Paramount Pictures has named Dan Butler senior VP of business affairs and legal in the company’s music division.
He’ll report to Par exec VP Daniel Ferleger.
Butler will be responsible for negotiating deals with composers, songwriters, co-publishers, music supervisors, record labels, recording artists and producers for Par’s motion pictures, soundtrack albums and homevid releases. He’ll also handle the acquisition of copyrights in new compositions and master recordings.
Butler joins Par after eight years at Warner Bros., where he was most recently senior VP of business and legal affairs for the studio’s music division.
From 1999-2006 Butler served as VP of business and legal affairs, music. He joined Warner Bros. in 1998 as director of business and legal affairs.
Before his Warner stint, Butler was VP of business and legal affairs for Rysher Entertainment’s music department.
