Longtime music exec Danny Goldberg has created a new management venture with the firm that handles the Strokes, Wiz Kid Management.
Goldberg’s Gold Village Entertainment and Ryan Gentles’ Wiz Kid Management have formed Gold Village/Wiz Kid (GVWK) to handle the projects they co-manage. Gold Village and Wiz Kid will also be sharing office space and some staff starting no later than January.
First GVWK joint clients are the rock band the Dead Trees (co-managing with Bryna Gootkind), Vincent Gallo for his musical endeavors and Sean Tillmann (aka Har Mar Superstar) for acting and writing as well as his musical career.
The goal of the union is the development of a mid-size management company focused on music artists.
Goldberg, who has run companies such as Atlantic Records and the Artemis label, formed Gold Village Entertainment in 2006 which manages the Hives, Steve Earle, Ben Lee, Allison Moorer, Ian Hunter, the Old 97s and the Actual.
Gentles, who was a booker at New York’s Mercury Lounge, manages the Strokes.
