Bob Cavallo, chairman of Disney Music Group will be given the City of Hope’s Spirit of Life award at a dinner Sept. 27 at the Pacific Design Center.
Award, chosen by members of City of Hope’s music and entertainment industry group, is presented annually to those who have made contributions to their community and profession.
Cavallo had his first big success at age 25 when he helped put together and guide music group The Lovin’ Spoonful, and has since managed artists including Little Feat, Weather Report, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Emotions, Deneice Williams and Prince. He later founded and was managing partner of 3rd Rail, which provided direction for Seal, Green Day, Weezer, the Goo Goo Dolls, Savage Garden and Alanis Morissette.
In 1998, Cavallo began his position as chairman of Disney Music Group, overseeing all of Walt Disney Co.’s recorded music and music publishing operations, within that Hollywood Records, Walt Disney Records, Lyric Street Records, Mammoth Records and Walt Disney Music Publishing.
