LONDON — EMI Group has upped Chris Ancliff to the role of general counsel, replacing Charles Ashcroft, who, for health reasons, is taking a step back.
The company says Ashcroft, who has been EMI’s general counsel for the past 10 years, will narrow his remit, but will continue in his role as company secretary.
Ancliff is currently senior VP of legal affairs and associate general counsel. In his new role he will have overall responsibility for all of EMI Group’s legal affairs, including government relations.
Ancliff reports directly to CEO Eric Nicoli, who in a statement said: “I completely understand and respect (Ashcroft’s) decision to reduce his workload and am very pleased that we will continue to benefit from his considerable knowledge and expertise.
“(Ancliff) has successfully served as EMI’s deputy general counsel for several years and his well earned promotion to general counsel will ensure that we have a smooth transition.”
