Mamie Gummer, Sian Phillips and Kristine Nielson are among the newly added cast members of the Roundabout’s upcoming Broadway revival of Christopher Hampton’s “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.”
Gummer (“Mr. Marmalade”) plays corruptible youth Cecile and Neilson portrays her mother in the show, which is toplined by Laura Linney and Ben Daniels as dueling seducers Merteuil and Valmont. Phillips plays Valmont’s aunt, while Benjamin Walker (“Inherit the Wind”) steps into the role of Cecile’s paramour.
Production, helmed by Rufus Norris (“Festen”), has not yet named an actress to fill the third major role in the play, Marie de Tourvel, the devout woman with whom Valmont falls in love (a character played by Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1988 pic version).
“Liaisons Dangereuses” begins perfs April 11, 2008 for a May 1 opening at the American Airlines Theater.
