Playwright earns honor for her play 'Hardball'

Playwright Victoria Stewart has nabbed the $10,000 Francesca Primus Prize, the award given to emerging female legit artists and administered by the Francesca Ronnie Primus Foundation and the American Theater Critics Association.

Stewart won for her play “Hardball,” produced in Gotham as part of the 2006 Summer Play Fest.

Named after scribe and critic Primus, previous recipients of the prize include Lynn Nottage (“Intimate Apparel”) and Brooke Berman (“Wonderland”).
