Road biz up; ‘Chicago’ returns

Road Grosses

NEW YORK — Road receipts increased in Week 1 (May 28-June 3) as the 13-show slate rose 6.22% to $12,574,791.

The increase was in part due to the return of “Chicago” in Portland, Ore., and the new production of “High School Musical” in Pittsburg.

The Los Angeles tour of “Wicked” was the highest-grossing show for the second consecutive week at $1,501,078, dropping $71,871 week to week, while the Denver run of “Wicked” was the second-highest-grossing show of the the week with $1,474,480.

The “12 Angry Men” tour, which closed on May 20, will begin its second year, in Lexington, Ky., on Oct. 5.
