‘Phone’ to star Mary-Louise Parker

Actress joining Kathleen Chalfant in show

Mary-Louise Parker will co-star in the Off Broadway production of Sarah Ruhl’s “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” set for a spring run at Playwrights Horizons.

Legit vet Parker (“Proof”) appears opposite the previously announced Kathleen Chalfant in the show, which Anne Bogart will direct. Parker was last on the boards in New York in a 2004 revival of “Reckless” at Manhattan Theater Club.

“Cell Phone,” written by MacArthur genius grant recipient Ruhl (“The Clean House,” “Eurydice”), centers on a woman (to be played by Parker) who answers a deceased man’s phone and gets sucked into his strange life. The play preemed at the Woolly Mammoth in Washington, D.C., in June.

Playwrights Horizons production begins previews Feb. 8 for a March 4 opening.

Third season of Parker’s Showtime drama “Weeds” is currently in progress. Parker also stars in upcoming pics ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” and “The Spiderwick Chronicles.”
