‘Guys and Dolls’ transfer delayed

Project is victim of possible writers' strike

The Gotham transfer of London’s hit revival of classic tuner “Guys and Dolls” now looks unlikely to happen next spring as intended.

The production’s helmer, Michael Grandage (“Frost/Nixon”), told Daily Variety that the project is a victim of next year’s possible Hollywood writers’ strike. Actors’ need to maintain availability for movie work prior to the commencement of the possible strike meant that four leading stage and screen actors could not commit to the project.

The Donmar co-production with the Ambassador Theater Group will, however, transfer to Australia in March, opening at the Princess Theater Melbourne following its two-year London run and U.K. tour.
