Two creators of “De La Guarda,” the aerial-dance hybrid that ran for six years Off Broadway, return to New York this fall with another physical spectacle, “Fuerzabruta.”
Show, created by “Guarda” co-creator Diqui James and “Guarda” composer Gaby Kerpel, will play 18 weeks at Off Broadway’s Daryl Roth Theater, where “De La Guarda” ran.
“Fuerzabruta” preemed in Buenos Aires in 2005 and has played Lisbon, London and Bogota, Colombia, with future stints skedded for Edinburgh, Berlin and Hamburg. Like “De La Guarda,” the music-driven show involves aerial action staged above the heads of the standing crowd and plenty of water.
Gotham run is produced by Concert Prods. Intl., Ozono Prods. and David Binder Prods. Binder was a co-producer of “De La Guarda” in New York.
“De La Guarda,” which closed at the Daryl Roth in 2004, had a robust international life, with engagements in London, Las Vegas, Mexico City, Seoul and Tokyo, among other cities. Another collaborator on that show, Pichon Baldinu, went on to work on Broadway, coordinating the aerial effects in “Tarzan.”
“Fuerzabruta” begins perfs Oct. 11 for an Oct. 24 opening. Show will play through Feb. 17.
