Signature Theater has inked Tony winner George Hearn to star opposite Chita Rivera in its upcoming production of John Kander and Fred Ebb’s musical “The Visit,” part of a Kander & Ebb festival to play the D.C.-area theater next spring.
The festival will also include full productions of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and “The Happy Time,” along with other events.
Directed by Frank Galati and choreographed by Ann Reinking, “The Visit” has a book by Terrence McNally, based on Friedrich Duerrenmatt’s play of the same name about a truth-telling old woman and her thirst for bloody revenge. The production will run May 13-June 22 in Signature’s MAX Theater.
Hearn won the Tony for actor in a musical in 1984 for “La Cage aux Folles” and for featured actor in a musical in 1995 for “Sunset Boulevard.”
