Participant plans doc on Live Earth concerts

Participant Prods. is planning a feature-length documentary about Saturday’s Live Earth global warming concerts, with Brian Hill directing.

Hill’s Century Films and Katie Bailiff will produce. Participant’s CEO Jim Berk also announced Monday that all of the film’s proceeds will be donated to the Alliance for Climate Protection, which is spearheading the event along with Kevin Wall and Al Gore.

The series of eight concerts will feature more than 100 artists. Project reteams Participant and Gore following their work on “An Inconvenient Truth,” which grossed nearly $50 million worldwide.

Participant, founded in 2004 by philanthropist Jeff Skoll, aims to produce films that are “socially relevant.” Its credits include “Good Night, and Good Luck,” “Syriana,” “North Country” and “Murderball.”

“Jeff Skoll and Participant always believed in the message of ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ long before it was fashionable to do so,” Gore said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be working with them again in this new effort to focus attention on climate crisis.”

Hill’s documentary work has focused on issues such as alcoholism (“Drinking for England”), autism (“Make Me Normal”) and women in prison (“Songbirds”). Other credits include “Falling Apart,” “Bella and the Boys” and “Consent.”

Bailiff’s the executive producer of Century Films. Her feature credits include “Falling Apart,” “Bella and the Boys” and TV docus “Facemakers,” “Carehouse,” “Slaughterhouse — The Task of Blood,” “The Spy Who Conned Me,” “Quitters” and “Make Me Honest.”
