BERLIN — Signaling a new direction after recent troubIes, Munich-based Internationalmedia has appointed former supervisory board member and one-time head of UFA Intl. Konstantin Thoeren as the producer-distrib’s new CEO.

Thoeren joins chief financial officer Sascha Konzack, who has managed the company since the ankling of former topper Martin Schuermann in July.

Thoeren’s credits, both as an independent producer and head of UFA Intl., include such films as “Dark Kingdom,” “Contaminated Man,” “The Enemy” and Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s “Lilli Marleen.”

The appointment is Internationalmedia’s latest step in repairing an image tarnished by the abrupt cancellation of production on Jan De Bont’s “Stopping Power” this summer following the exit of a key investor.

Last month, Internationalmedia managed to save the $60 million “Stopping Power” after Los Angeles-based R Media Acquisition agreed to take over the production and assume liabilities connected to the project as part of a wide-ranging agreement.

Correction: Martin Schuermann remains chairman of the Board of Intermedia.
