LONDON — After its recent management upheavals, Momentum Pictures has appointed a new acquisitions team, in a signal that the U.K. distrib will be actively scouting for pickups at next week’s European Film Market in Berlin.
Interim managing director Richard Napper has named Robert Walak as director of acquisitions, Louis Tisne as acquisitions manager and Nadia Ward as acquisitions co-ordinator.
They will be responsible for acquisitions not only for Momentum, but also for its Spanish subsidiary Aurum.
Previous acquisitions topper Lara Thompson left in December to join Sony in Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, Momentum m.d. Xavier Marchand was suspended and replaced by Napper, after Goldman Sachs agreed to buy a majority stake in Momentum’s Canadian parent Motion Picture Distribution.
Walak previously served as acquisitions manager across theatrical and home entertainment for Momentum. Both Tisne and Ward also were both previously employed in junior positions at the company.
Napper said, “We have put together a very solid and strong team to acquire for the U.K. and Spain. Together their level of experience and fantastic industry contacts will maintain our position as one of the leading forces in the European arena.”
