Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are plotting a remake of 1993 Italian film “La scorta,” setting Asger Leth to direct and Peter Craig to pen the screenplay.
Original pic told the story of four policemen assigned to guard a special prosecutor trying to bring mob bosses to justice. His predecessor was blown away along with a bodyguard. The four guards are conflicted about their jobs and frustrated as they watch government insiders thwart the lawman at every turn.
The Danish-born Leth is making his American directorial debut. His 2006 documentary “Ghosts of Cite Soleil” concerns the clash between two brothers who are gang leaders and henchmen of Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
Craig’s credits include “The Town,” a romantic comedy about a thief who falls in love with a victim that Adrian Lyne will direct for Warner Bros. He also adapted “Hot Plastic” for Radar and Maguire Entertainment.
