Two-year-old Intrepid Pictures (“Balls of Fury”) has launched development of actioner “The Uncatchable Cowgirl Bandits of Nottingham, Texas.”
Shingle’s hired Michael Tabb to pen the screenplay, based on an idea developed by Tabb and Intrepid VP Katherine Brown. “Bandits” is set in the small rural town of Nottingham, Texas, where a group of rebellious young women rob several branches of a bank that’s threatening their community’s livelihood and corrupting the town’s leaders.
Tabb most recently adapted Jeffrey Lent’s novel “In the Fall” for Sojourn Films. He sold Warner Bros. a “Troy” screenplay with Marc Canton producing in 2000 and has worked on projects with Stan Lee, Mike Newell, Lawrence Bender and Dustin Hoffman.
Intrepid, founded by Trevor Macy and Marc Evans, has been aiming at financing and producing projects in teen comedy, horror, thriller and action, targeting the 12-to-29-year-old demo. Upcoming releases include “Strangers,” written and directed by Bryan Bertino, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman; and “Balls of Fury,” starring Dan Fogler, George Lopez, Maggie Q and Christopher Walken.
The company also is producing “Doomsday” with Crystal Sky, Neil Marshall directing, Rhona Mitra and Bob Hoskins starring; and “Couriers,” produced with Jason Netter of Kickstart Comic Art Studios.
