Film Movement acquires rights to Mitulescu film

Film Movement has acquired North American distribution rights to Catalin Mitulescu’s “The Way I Spent the End of the World.”

Pic, exec produced by Martin Scorsese and Wim Wenders, will have a limited platform theatrical release in the first quarter next year.

Story, which takes place in Romania during 1989, the last year of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu’s reign of terror, concerns a spunky 17-year-old on the cusp of adulthood and her unruly little brother.

The film’s Doroteea Petregarnered the Un Certain Regard nod for actress at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
