Three debut features — “Falkenberg Farewell,” “Storm” and “Kidz in da Hood” — are nominated for best film at Sweden’s premier film awards, the Guldbagges (Golden Bugs).
Helmer Jesper Ganslandt’s critically acclaimed “Falkenberg Farewell” scooped four noms, for film, director, supporting actor and script. Produced by Anna Anthony of Memfis Film, it’s a semi-documentary story of five childhood friends.
Facing off with “Falkenberg” are musical drama “Kidz in da Hood” from Catti Edfeldt and Ylva Gustavsson, also with four noms, and sci-fi thriller “Storm” by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, with two.
Thriller “When Darkness Falls” from Anders Nilsson earned four nods, for director, actress, supporting actor and script.
The 40th Guldbagge Awards ceremony takes place Jan. 22 in Stockholm and will be broadcast live by pubcaster SVT.
