‘Black’ earns gold at Method Fest

Angarano, Guiry win acting awards

“Black Irish” snagged picture kudos at the ninth annual Method Fest, which wrapped last week in Calabasas, Calif.

The film also drew nods for actor Michael Angarano and supporting actor Tom Guiry.

Actress honors went to Scout Taylor-Compton for “Tomorrow is Today,” while supporting actress went to Dagmara Domincyzk for “Mentor.”

Named for the acting style, Method Fest showcases “story-driven” indies with “breakout” performances.

Jim Loftus drew director kudos for “Trade Routes,” while the screenplay nod went to David Gow for “Steel Toes,” a film that he also co-directed.

Christopher Plummer received the lifetime achievement honors, and Michael Madsen drew the maverick award.
