TIFF Winds of change

Ishizaka named programming director

Kenji Ishizaka has been named programming director of the Tokyo Film Festival’s Winds of Asia section, the festival announced on Friday.

Formerly film coordinator of the Media Dept. at the Japan Foundation Asia Center, Ishizaka replaces Sozo Teruoka, who helmed the section since its start in 2002.

Winds of Asia has primarily been a TIFF showcase for new talent from East Asia, but Ishizaka wants to expand the definition of Asia to include Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Turkey.

TIFF’s line-up will be announced in September. Fest’s 20th edition will unspool from Oct. 20 to 28.
