Summit Entertainment, which has reinvented itself as a full-service studio, has hired Geoff Shaevitz as senior VP of production and Michael Schaefer as VP of acquisitions and co-productions.
Both report to Summit president of production Erik Feig.
Shaevitz previously worked at Warner Bros., most recently as VP of production at Warner Premiere, which he helped form in 2006. He also worked as a production exec on “Batman Begins,” “300” and “The Lake House.” He broke into the business by running Riche/Ludwig from 1997-2001.
Schaefer comes from the Weinstein Co., where he was most recently VP of production and acquisitions. He also worked with Bertelsmann’s RTL Group in Germany, Europe’s largest TV broadcast and production house, and Fine Line Features; he got his start in the industry producing “No Regrets” in Germany.
Summit has “Get Some” and “Step Up 2 the Streets” in production. It plans to release 10-12 films annually.
