Spanish distribution house Sogepaq has taken international rights to Jaime Marques’ “Ladrones” (Thieves).
Young love tale pairs Spain’s best-known young thesps — Juan Jose Ballesta and Maria Valverde — in a troubled teen drama.
Patrick Bauchau co-stars.
It’s produced by Jose Ibanez’s Pentagrama, Telecinco’s Estudios Picasso and Antonio Perez’s Maestranza with backing and distribution in Spain from Warner Bros.
The studio has skedded the Spanish release for June 22.
“Thieves” screens in March at Spain’s Malaga Fest.
“It’s fresh, and the director has a strong artistic character,” said Pentagrama topper Jose Ibanez.
Sogepaq saw strong sales on another feature film deb last year, Daniel Sanchez Arevalo’s “Azuloscurocasinegro” (Dark- BlueAlmostBlack), a quirky take on a frustrated janitor’s family and sexual relations.
