Worked on 'The Hustler,' 'Heaven Can Wait'

Production accountant Sam Bernstein died Aug. 12 of heart failure in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was 80.

Bernstein began his career in New York in 1960 on “The Hustler,” and came to Los Angeles in 1969 to work for Robert Wise on “The Andromeda Strain.” His credits include “Advise And Consent,” “The Night They Raided Minsky’s,” “Parallax View,” “Heaven Can Wait,” “No Way Out,” “Thelma & Louise,” “The Crow” and “Street Fighter.”

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Bernstein graduated from City College New York. He was a member of the Producers Guild, IATSE, and the Motion Picture Association of America.

Sam is survived by his partner of 53 years, Bruno Chiaruttini.
