CANNES — Optimum Releasing, the U.K. distrib that was acquired last year by StudioCanal, has promoted several of its senior execs as it gears up for expansion.

Will Clarke, formerly managing director, has been upped to CEO.

He will work closely with StudioCanal co-chairman Frederic Sichler — who is relocating to London this summer — on international production, acquisitions and the development of the international business.

Danny Perkins, formerly head of distribution, will take on the role of managing director and chief operating officer. He will handle day-to-day responsibilities for the U.K. theatrical and home entertainment divisions.

“We are changing the theatrical team to prepare for a new slate, which we have been working on since our acquisition by StudioCanal, and my own role is developing along with the ambitions of the company,” Clarke said.

Also promoted are John Rodden, who becomes general manager of Optimum Home Releasing; Hugh Spearing, who was tapped head of marketing for the theatrical arm; Alison Meese, who becomes acquisition manager; and Ben Luxford, who takes on the role of sales manager.

Recent Optimum acquisitions include “In the Valley of Elah,” “Cassandra’s Dream” and the new Morgan Spurlock doc about Osama Bin Laden.
