Swedish sales unit picks up three new films

STOCKHOLM — Sweden’s NonStop Sales has picked up international rights for three new titles: the Swedish “Darling” and “Desmond and the Swamp Barbarian Trap,” as well as the Danish “Pistoleros.”

Johan Kling’s debut feature “Darling” won the Nordic Film Award at Sweden’s Goteborg fest last weekend. Produced by Fredrik Heinig of production outfit Spader Knekt, the low-budget drama tells a tale of the young, obnoxious upper class and ordinary folks in Stockholm in the early 2000s.

Pic will be pre-presented to selected distributors at the Berlinale and opens today in Sweden. It will receive a full market premiere in Cannes.

Also pre-presented in Berlin is “Pistoleros,” a big-city Western about an urban legend produced by Cut1Movie. Danish helmer Shaky Gonzales’ first feature, “Angel of the Night,” was sold to more than 45 countries.

The family-oriented “Desmond and the Swamp Barbarian Trap” is the first stop-motion animated feature produced in Sweden. Created by Magnus Carlsson, pic was produced by Jolly Patron and has its market premiere in Berlin.
