NonStop picks up ‘Ghostwood’

'Speed Dating' also on slate

CANNES — Swedish sales company NonStop Sales has picked up worldwide rights to Irish thriller “Ghostwood” and comedy “Speed Dating.”

“Ghostwood” is helmed by Irish director Justin O’Brien and stars Alan Devine (“Veronica Guerin,” “King Arthur”), Patrick Bergin from “Sleeping with the Enemy” and Louise Osbourne from “Dr Doolittle” and “Murder She Wrote.”

“Ghostwood” is executive produced by Ned Dowd, whose credits include “Apocalypto.”

The supernatural chiller “Deadwood” takes its queue from the mythology about Ireland’s mysterious and often terrifying past. The main character, Ed Hunter, tries to solve the mysterious disappearance of his father. He travels to a remote part of Ireland and finds a little village that for centuries has been isolated and living in fear.

“Speed Racer” is the first feature from Tony Herbert and is a romantic comedy. It tells the story of James Van Der Bexton, who has been depressed since his g.f. left him. He takes up speed dating but gets intrigued by a young woman he meets at the local pub. Pic, that won the audience award at both the European Independent Film Festival and the Indianapolis Intl. Film Festival and the jury award for feature at the Malibu Film Festival, is produced by John Conroy.
