Nala Films has beefed up its executive ranks, hiring Corrie Rothbart as chief financial officer and Rudy Scalese as director of development.
Rothbart will oversee financial and strategic planning, corporate treasury, business development, production finance, accounting and operations. She’s previously worked at ICM, Gold Circle Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Scalese will help identify and develop material to fulfill the company’s production slate of four to five relatively big-budget films per year, as well as its lower-budget genre fare. Scalese produced the documentary “Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film” with Rachel Belofsky’s Candy Heart Productions. He was also at D-No Entertainment.
The duo will report to chairman-CEO Emilio Diez Barroso and prexy Darlene Caamano Loquet.
Nala most recently wrapped Paul Haggis’ “In the Valley of Elah,” which Warner Independent will distribute this fall, and is prepping “Open Grave,” to be directed by Eduardo Rodriguez, and “Mr. Burnout” with Paul Dinello helming. It’s developing “Only Every You” with Griffin Dunne to direct and “Night of Light” with Spanish helmer Norbert Lopez Amado.
