Shooting Gallery founder Larry Meistrich has launched Nehst Media Enterprises, a film production, financing and distribution company.
Meistrich and entrepreneur Ari D. Friedman, along with a group of industry execs, will head Nehst (pronounced “next”).
Company will create features, television, direct-to-Web content and spinoff products and services.
“Next-generation content production, distribution and technology will be the foundation of the new company,” Friedman said.
Meistrich previously launched indie distrib Film Movement and produced the films “Sling Blade,” “You Can Count on Me,” “Belly,” “Laws of Gravity” and “Croupier.”
Friedman also created, launched and then sold the grocery service Homedelivery.com.
Indie producer Dana Offenbach will serve as Nehst production group president; former Miramax and Focus Features exec Bill Keys is production prexy. Fusion Media founder Jeff Silverstein heads the Web content and consumer network.
