Film Independent has tapped Curtis Hanson as Guest Director and record producer Pharrell Williams as Artist in Residence for the Los Angeles Film Festival.
The fest, which runs in Westwood Village from June 21 through July 1, will include a sidebar of films that have inspired Hanson: John Frod’s “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” and Samuel Fuller’s “The Naked Kiss.” Hanson will also attend the two-day festival retreat at Skywalker Ranch.
Williams has also programmed a sidebar with “National Lampoon’s Vacation” and Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” He’ll also participate in a Festival conversation on June 23 at the Hammer Museum.
Past Guest Directors have included Alfonso Cuaron, Chen Kaige, Mira Nair, Sydney Pollack, and George Lucas. Past Artists in Residence have included The RZA, Neil Young, and Danger Mouse.
