What’s your fondest festival moment?
When all is ready and the giant screen of the outdoor theater is rising in front of my eyes. When the ending credits of the closing film come up.

What are your festival expectations this year:
We have come up with a more innovative ticketing system

this year and I hope that the audience will be able to purchase tickets without any inconvenience. I just hope that they enjoy the films to the fullest.

What films do you anticipate seeing:
The opening film, the films in the Flash Forward section.

What must Pusan visitors be sure to do while in town:
Attend PIFF’s Master Classes to listen to stories of great cineastes of our time.

Who are you most looking forward to meeting at the festival:
Hand Printing honorees: Dariush Mehrjui, Volker Schlondorff and Claude Lelouch.

What’s your favorite Korean dish:
Busan’s most representative dish: hwe (Korean sashimi).

Which food do you most recommend visitors try:
Jeon-uh-hwe, the hickory shad sashimi.

Is there a restaurant we should be sure to try:
Hal-mae-bok-jip (Grandma’s Globefish). It’s great for a hangover.

Who’s your favorite Asian filmmaker:
Hou Hsiao Hsien. The Makhmalbaf family

How about favorite Asian actor or actress?
Zhang Ziyi, Kwei-mei Yang.

What is your favorite film of all time:
Hitchcock’s films: “The Birds,” “Rear Window,” etc.
Im Kwon-taek’s “Mandara”

Can we anticipate running into you at a beach bar during the fest:
Yes, if you walk by the beach bars between 1-3 a.m. most definitely.

What will you be drinking:
If it were two years ago, I would be emptying bottles of soju.

What are you going to do after the fest:
I plan to write a book on film festivals.
