Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart, producer Cathy Schulman and helmer-producer Joel Schumacher have been selected to judge this year’s Samuel Goldwyn Writing Awards.

Samuel Goldwyn Jr., president of the Samuel Goldwyn Foundation, made the announcement Monday.

Bart also co-hosts “Sunday Morning Shootout” and most recently penned the book “Boffo! How I Learned to Love the Blockbuster and Fear the Bomb.” Schulman, prexy of Mandalay Pictures, produced “Crash” under her Bull’s Eye Entertainment Banner. Schumacher, whose most recent credits include the bigscreen version of “The Phantom of the Opera,” is in post-production on horror pic “Town Creek.”

The Goldwyn Writing Awards started by Samuel Goldwyn Sr. in 1955, offer a $15,000 first prize, $7,500 second prize, $4,000 third prize and $2,000 and $1,000 honorable mentions.

Kudos ceremony is skedded to be held Oct. 29 at UCLA.
