First Run thumps Karslake’s ‘Bible’

Documentary scheduled for release in October

First Run Features has acquired the North American rights to Daniel Karslake’s documentary “For the Bible Tells Me So.”

Pic, which preemed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, looks at five conservative Christian families as a means to analyze how the religious right has tried to use the Bible to stigmatize homosexuals.

Indie distrib plans to release the film theatrically in October.

Karslake produced doc with pic’s editor, Nancy Kennedy, and Helen Mendoza.

Michael Huffington, former California congressman and ex-husband of Arianna Huffington, Bruce Bastian, Robin Voss, Robert Greenbaum and Keith Lewis exec produced “Bible,” with Sandra Hartness and Karen Ellis serving as co-exec producers.
