Whitaker, Pearce, Fanning to also star in pic

Forest Whitaker, Kate Beckinsale, Guy Pearce and Dakota Fanning will topline ensemble drama “Winged Creatures,” produced by Robert Salerno (“21 Grams”) through his Unruly Films banner.

Project’s an adaptation of Roy Freirich’s debut novel about survivors of a brutal restaurant murder who are left to divine their own individual paths to understanding their mortality and connection to society.

Rowan Woods (“Little Fish”) is attached to direct, with lensing expected to start March 19.

Whitaker’s nominated for the actor Oscar for “The Last King of Scotland” and will be seen in “Even Money,” “Vantage Point” and “Ripple Effect”; Fanning appeared in the controversial “Hounddog” and is set to appear alongside her sister Elle Fanning in “Hurricane Mary”; and Pearce stars as Andy Warhol in “Factory Girl.”
