Anonymous acquires ‘Acquisitions’

Poirer to adapt Vachon book

Anonymous Content has acquired rights to “Mergers & Acquisitions,” the freshman effort from Dana Vachon, Gotham’s current literary darling, in a deal worth high six figures.

Anonymous won out after a heated bidding war.

Mark Poirer will write the screen adaptation, while Steve Golin (“Babel,” “Being John Malkovich”) will produce along with Shawn Simon and Matt DeRoss.

Agent David Kuhn at Kuhn Projects sold the book to publishers, and Justin Manask at IPG repped film rights.

The much-hyped novel, set to hit shelves Thursday, has been described as this decade’s “Bright Lights, Big City.” The former investment banker’s novel centers on Wall Street’s fast-moving upper social and financial reaches. Early buzz has drawn comparisons to Tom Wolfe’s “The Bonfire of the Vanities,” Lauren Weisberger’s “The Devil Wears Prada” and Candace Bushnell’s “Sex and The City” and “Lipstick Jungle.”
