Fest’s “Hollywood on Hollywood” theme includes docs “Lynch,” “The Man in the Shadows: Val Lewton,” “Never Apologize: A Personal Visit With Lindsay Anderson” and “Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story” (see schedule for dates and times).
A “Milestones” retrospective will honor the work of filmmakers who’ve passed recently, including Michelangelo Antonioni, Ingmar Bergman, Edward Yang, Ousmane Sembene and cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs.
A series of “Talk/Show” panels will address such topics as “From Charlie Chan to Pancho Villa: Movie Stereotypes and American Popular Culture”; “Filmanthropy: The Power of Film to Inspire American Philanthropy”; “Whose Reality Is This?”; and “From Auteurs to Collaborators: Is Great Filmmaking the Path of One or Many?” All take place at the Rooftop Village atop the ArcLight parking garage.
