STOCKHOLM — Nine Scandinavian films have been shortlisted for the Nordic Council Film Prize of 350,000 kroner ($64,000).
Selections are Sweden’s “Darling,” directed by Johan Kling, and “Farewell Falkenberg” by Jesper Ganslandt; Norway’s “Reprise” by Joachim Trier and “Sons” by Erik Richter Strand; Finland’s “A Man’s Job” by Aleksi Salmenpera; Denmark’s “AFR” by Morten Hartz Kaplers and “The Art of Crying” by Peter Schonau Fog; plus Iceland’s “Children” by Ragnar Bragason and “Jar City” by Baltasar Kormakur.
The winner will be announced Oct. 9 and the prize will be awarded Oct. 31 at the annual session of the Nordic Council. The council gives similar amounts to literature, music and the environment and is usually shared among the director, screenwriter and the producer.
Last year’s winner was Swedish “Zozo.” The prize was shared between helmer Josef Fares and producer Anna Anthony.
