George Lucas will receive an award for his contributions to the arts at the 25th Princess Grace Awards Gala.
The event, to be held Oct. 25 at Sotheby’s, honors emerging artists in theater, dance and film. Kudos will go to 22 winners. Over the awards’ 25-year span, the Princess Grace Foundation has given out more than $5 million to the winners.
Lucas is being honored with the Prince Rainier III Award for his philanthropy as well as his 40-year film career. In 2006, his foundation donated $175 million to the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Lucas’s alma mater.
James Earl Jones will introduce Lucas at the gala, which will also feature the auction of two dresses worn by Princess Grace.
The gala comes near the end of a week and a half of activities aimed at honoring the legacy of Princess Grace, including an exhibit at Sotheby’s.
