LONDON — Stars such as Kylie Minogue, Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Damon Albarn and Paul McCartney were among the winners at this year’s Q Awards, held Monday in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Sheffield five-piece Arctic Monkeys won the prestigious best act in the world today award, while Amy Winehouse was honored for best album (“Back to Black”). Both of these accolades were voted for by the readers of Q magazine, which organizes the annual award show.

Kylie Minogue was presented with the Q Idol award, while Paul McCartney received the Q Icon award.

The inspiration award went to Blur and Gorillaz front man Damon Albarn, The Enemy were voted best new act, while Kate Nash picked up the award for breakthrough artist.

Other standout winners were Muse for best live act, the Kaiser Chiefs for best video, Billy Bragg picked up the classic songwriter award, Ian Brown received the Q Legend award, while fellow Manchester musician Johnny Marr collected the lifetime achievement award.

The best track was won by “Your Love Alone Is Not Enough” by Manic Street Preachers, the Q classic song was Stereophonics’ “Local Boy in the Photograph,” The Verve picked up the classic album award for “Urban Hymns,” the Q innovation in sound award went to Sigur Ros, Ryan Adams won the merit award and the Q hero award was collected by the family of late music entrepreneur Anthony Wilson.
